GOAL! Man City 2 (Yaya Toure 45) Man United 0
Manchester City have absolutely dominated this first half and they've got the second goal they deserve at the ideal time.
A corner swung in by Samir Nasri is flicked on to the back post after being misjudged by the United defenders and there is Toure, with a perfectly-timed dart, to turn it in.
United have been so sloppy in this first period and Moyes now has the most important team talk of his Old Trafford career so far.

45min
We are in to one added minute at the Etihad.
Neil Ashton: City fans singing ‘you’re gonna dive in a minute’ to Ashley Young after that hopeless pass that drifted off for a goalkick. He hasn’t dived yet though. Not yet.

16:42
41min - Valencia drags one wide
An injection of pace from Valencia on the right, running straight at Kolarov, but he drags a tame shot wide of the far post with Hart untroubled.

16:41
40min - Forward frustration for United
A little of the sting has gone from the game in these last few minutes, though that hasn't favoured United. Ashley Young charges down the left and then lobs an aimless ball into Danny Welbeck that is easily collected by Joe Hart. That about sums it up for the visitors in this first half.
Threat: Sergio Aguero tries to get beyond Nemanja Vidic (Picture: PA)

16:36
35min - City continue to dominate
Man United are currently in City's half - and this has been a rare sight in the opening 35 minutes. Ashley Young and Marouane Fellaini are attempting to bring the ball forward and instigate something, but the channels always seem to be blocked.
City carry the greater threat going forward by some way and Nasri tries an intricate one-two with Negredo which doesn't quite come off.

16:35
Graham Poll's official line
Our man Graham Poll can't find any fault with the officials so far: Assistant Mike Mullarkey joining in the top officiating with a fine judgement of the ball going out of play. Darren Cann has also made some good offside decisions. What do you expect from a World Cup final team?

16:30
29min - Rooney booked
It's been coming and Wayne Rooney, after what must be his fourth infringement in this opening half hour, receives a booking.
Graham Poll's take: Rooney caution clearly for persistent misconduct. Hopefully it will serve to calm the United man down as well.
Final straw: Rooney is booked by Howard Webb after three or four infringements (Picture: Getty)

16:29
28min - Update from Cardiff
Laurie Whitwell with the events in Wales as we approach the half-hour mark at 0-0: All Tottenham here. Not so much wave after wave of attack, more a constant stream that shows no signs of running dry anytime soon.

Eriksen has twice been denied with smart stops from Marshall, while Caulker leapt brilliantly to block Soldado's goal-bound effort. Sigurdsson has also gone close.
On the attack: Frazier Campbell takes on Jan Vertonghen (Picture: PA)

16:26
25min - Penalty appeal for City
Kolarov goes down inside the box, leading to mass appeal from the fans behind the goal. There did appear to be some light contact from Smalling but Webb waves away the protests.
Ian Ladyman: Webb right again proving that there can be incidents that are neither fouls or dives.

16:25
24min - Graham Poll's official line
Our man on Howard Webb's start to the match:
Webb will be pleased with the opening 20 minutes. The early caution seemed to have worked but the game is well balanced and with Rooney being busy Webb will know he’s still got a lot of work this afternoon. Key to keeping control is absolute concentration and not making any silly mistakes.
Touchline tweaks: David Moyes (left) and Manuel Pellegrini shout instructions (Picture: PA)

16:24
23min - Nasri's early impact
Ian Ladyman writes on a City man who has made a great start to this match:
Manchester City have waited too long for Samir Nasri to start influencing really big games.
It was only six months ago, remember, that Roberto Mancini – the manager who bought him from Arsenal – said – only half in jest – that he wanted to “punch” the French international. Well, Nasri has certainly come to the party today.
The way he ran Chris Smalling in the build-up to City’s goal was terrific, direct old-fashioned wing play and the technique he showed in crashing a volley over the bar a few minutes later was equally impressive.
What City need from Nasri now, though, is a full game. Twenty minute cameos are no good to anyone are they?

16:22
21min - Rooney loses his head(band)
A coming together between Rooney and Kompany in the middle of the park leaves the United striker robbed of his protective headband! He's wearing a thick bandage over that forehead gash - taking no chances.
Neil Ashton writes: Just seen the size of the gauze on Rooney’s forehead when his headband came off during that grapple with Vincent Kompany – it’s huge. He’s obviously still worried about that scar opening up again.

16:22
20min - All Spurs at Cardiff
Riath Al-Samarrai updates us from Cardiff:
After Campbell failed to convert a one on one in the first minute - Lloris made an excellent stop, in fairness - this has been all Tottenham. Kyle Walker looking very dangerous down the right.
From behind: Cardiff's Craig Bellamy tries to rob Kyle Naughton of possession (Picture: PA)

16:20
18min - Nasri close with sweet volley
City's forward momentum continues and Samir Nasri goes close with a well-struck volley that was inches over.
Just before the goal, there was an incident involving Wayne Rooney where he was perhaps lucky to avoid a yellow card after kicking the ball at Aguero. Graham Poll writes: Genuine apology from Rooney as he kicked the ball at Aguero – Webb sees that correctly and merely gives the free kick. Honesty on a PL pitch – a new trend?

16:16
GOAL! Man City 1 (Aguero 15) Man United 0
Magnificent technique and improvisation from Sergio Aguero as City take the lead! The pressure had been mounting for the last five minutes, with the hosts enjoying 65 per cent of the ball, and when Kolarov broke clear of Valencia down the left-side, he picked out Aguero perfectly in the centre. The forward swivelled and flicked the ball into the corner of the net, giving De Gea no hope of reaching it. First blood to City!

16:15
Early chances at Cardiff
Laurie Whitwell on the early exchanges in Wales:
Big moment to examine early on with Hugo Lloris playing fast and loose once more with the perimeter of his area.
He was booked against Norwich for handling outside the box and went very close here when palming away Fraizer Campbell's attempt to round him.
Looked on the line - just - and would have been a red had the officials deemed an infringement. Showed his speed off the line again though to smother danger after Kyle Naughton's lax back pass.

16:11
9min - Kolarov winds up
City spread the play right to left as Yaya Toure cuts loose for the first time. It comes to Kolarov on the left-hand side and his shot is deflected away for a corner. David De Gea, not always so strong in the air, manages to successfully punch the corner away.

16:08
7min
Sportmail's Neil Ashton writes:
Ashley Young starting for the first time for United since David Moyes 'had a word' following his simulation against Palace at Old Trafford last weekend. Hasn't gone down yet, but it's early.
Warning: David Moyes, left, seen here chatting to City assistant manager Brian Kidd before the game, warned Ashley Young about his diving this week (Picture: Empics)

16:06
5min - Booking for Nastasic
A slightly harsh early yellow card for City's centre-half Matija Nastasic as he jumps up with Chris Smalling. Both men seemingly had their eyes firmly fixed on the ball, but Howard Webb thought it worthy of a booking.
Graham Poll will be providing insight on all the controversial incidents this afternoon. He writes: Too strong a challenge from Nastasic rightly cautioned by Webb. Good to see early discipline.

16:05
4min - Navas fires the first shot in anger
The first chance of the derby falls to City's Jesus Navas, dead centre, 25 yards from goal. He doesn't get a clean connection and the ball sails harmlessly into the stands.

An update from Laurie Whitwell in Cardiff:
In his programme notes, Malky Mackay thanks 'Daniel Levy and his staff for being so open and straight forward to deal with during the negotiations' for Steve Caulker's move from Spurs to Cardiff.

From Sportsmail's Riath Al-Samarrai at Cardiff City Stadium:
Pretty hostile reception for Tottenham as the teams are read out. Cardiff are a great club when it comes to helping travelling support, but they love to get stuck into visiting teams.

16:01
1min - Welbeck sneaks in
Danny Welbeck straight in on goal within the first 15 seconds as he charges down a lazy Vincent Kompany clearance and bears down on goal. The Belgian recovers his composure and ensures the ball goes out for a goal kick.
The man Welbeck has replaced, Robin van Persie, is sat on a comfortable leather seat just above the dug-outs.
